Storm Sweeps Through WV; Clinton Storm Next

(Charleston, West Virginia)

West Virginia was hit by severe weather Sunday, and more is on the way Monday. So much so, that Sen. Hillary Clinton has already canceled her first planned event of the day. She is scheduled to end the night at 7 p.m. in Fairmont, with the Governor.

The bad weather may not be the only storm to hit West Virginia. Clinton's lead in the polls is staggering. The latest ARG poll, taken May 7 and 8, has it Clinton 66 percent to Obama 23 percent. The Rasmussen Poll, taken May 4, has it Clinton 56 percent to Obama 27 percent, which may be a bit more realistic given the "Super Delegate" surge to Obama the past few days.

If weather is bad Tuesday, turnout could be affected. And if it is widely assumed Clinton will win big, then maybe some of her supporters will stay home. You never know!

The point is, Clinton is likely to win, but the significance will likely depend on the margin. If she wins big, she'll be more viable in Oregon and Kentucky next week. If her margin closes tightly, as it did last week in Indiana, her argument of being more electable in November goes out the window.

I will be in West Virginia through Wednesday, rain or shine, with all the latest on the primary.

What you just said on channel 2 about needing to admit the unity of a Obama, Clinton ticket has been so obvious since the first debate that Barack could actually discuss how his style might change competitive trends. She seems more victimized by divisional politics, so why can't the reviser offer to continue advancing powers to the V.P. role?
