Breaking News! Romney Ends Campaign

Breaking News-

(Washington, DC)

Former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) has ended his campaign for the White House. Romney made the announcement today while addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the nation's capitol.

Romney, who pledged to fight on after a disappointing Super Tuesday, had spent millions of his own money on the campaign. Some estimates give him 253 convention delagates.

In giving his reasons for dropping out, Romney said, "If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win." He said at a time of war, he could not do that.

Sen . John McCain (R-AZ) has 707 delegates, about two-thirds of what he needs for the nomination. Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) has 193 delegates, but for now is staying in the race. Romney did not make any endorsements.
